Wise Margin High Macomber Weight Gets 126 Pounds for Third Running of Memorial Event; Jabneh, Akbar Khan Next By ELI CHIAT SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 4. The high-weight package of 126 pounds has been assigned to Sam Tufanos Wise Margin for the 5,000 added John R. Macomber Memorial Handicap, scheduled for its third running on Monday, June 17. The muscular seven-year-old son of Market Wise One Ripple thus is expected to give from one to 24 pounds to the other 17 nominees in this about a mile and one-half grass event which commemorates the memory of the man who was instrumental in introducing pari-mutuel wagering to the State of Massachusetts. Wise Margin, inaugurated his 1957 campaign with a second behind Fire King in a six-furlong allowance race here a few days ago after a winter of inactivity at Jay Cee Farm in Red Bank, N. J. He was given a winters vacation following a strenuous 1956 tour of duty which he closed out with a record-breaking performance in the Pimlico Cup at two miles and one-sixteenth". He raced 26 times last year, winning six, placing three times and finishing third six times to amass earnings of over 3,000. Jabneh Hialeah Turf Winner Mrs. Eugenia Bankheads Jabneh is pegged a pound below Wise Margin with 125. This five-year-old son of Bimelech Bellesoeur has done most of his racing over the greensward, accounting for the Hialeah Turf Handicap this winter for his only victory of the year. He finished second to Akbar Khan in the Dixie Handicap and fourth, behind the same horse in the Brandywine, both turf events at Pimlico and Delaware. In with 120 pounds is the present sensation of the grass ranks, Cockfield Stables Akbar Khan, winner of the Dixie and Brandywine, and second in the Laurel Spring Handicap. In the Brandywine, Akbar Khan carried 117 pounds to a new track record, covering the distance in 1:42. Greentree Stables Maharajah, winner of the inaugural running of this race and second to Fisherman last year, gets in with 115 pounds, the same poundage that he carried in his outing here last year when finishing a half length behind the winner.
