Nominations Close Today For Cleopatra and Joliet WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., June 4 . Horsemen were reminded today by racing: secretary JFred Burton that nominations for Arlington Parks opening day stakes, the 5,000 added " Cleopatra Handicap, close Wednesday, June 5. A virtually new Arlington Park opens its 36-day meeting Monday, June 17, and the Cleopatra is first of 15 rich and important stakes events which will total 10,000 in added money. The Cleopatra is a seven furlongs test for three-year-old fillies. Also closing today is the 5,000 added Joliet Stakes. The Joliet is Chicagos first major test for two-year-old colts and is scheduled for Wednesday, June 12. The distance is five and one-half furlongs. The events is open to colts and fillies.
