The latter opened up a good early lead, started to falter into the stretch and weakened steadily thereafter. OPEN SHOW could not menace. GATO MANOSO saved-ground throughout to no avail. I WOULD made a steady run into close contention, wore down the leader after" leaving the eighth pole and extended her margin thereafter. CHICKENALAKING split horses going into the stretch and closed with .good energy. GO JOHN GO opened up a good lead midway on the turn, started to weaken inside the final eighth and gave ground gradually. CLEAN FOX dropped back early while along the inside, then had no solid late response and deail-heated with ROUGH TRIP for fourth. The latter gave improved speed when too late. RED HOLLY weakened, JUDE made a good move going into the stretch and then flattened out. HELL ATTEND rushed outside the field to reach contention before a half mile and then faltered. The latter moved willingly from the outside in the early stretch but could not keep pace with the winner in the late yards. DUNTREATH MISS held a slight advantage along the inside, was put to strong pressure after a half mile to draw off. in the stretch, then weakened. BANK COAL forced the pace from the start, had to be carefully handled in the early stretch while showing a tendency to lug in and drew off inside the final sixteenth when the leader faltered. BARKING DOG held on vith good courage until the final sixteenth and weakened. BOFRANC lacked the necessary response in the drive. NOWS THE TIME gave improved speed -when too late. ESCAPADE III. saved ground into the stretch to loom a threat but flattened out under pressure.
