Eleven in Polly Drummond Stakes Rate Milady Dares As Probable Choice Have and Hold, Sew It Up, Dance Card Among Rivals On Todays Delaware Card By PALMER IIEAGERTY DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 4. The 0,000 added Polly Drummond Stakes, lone two-year-old fixture of .the 32-day meeting limited exclusively to fillies, will have its twentieth running as the featured event on Wednesdays program. With 11 overnight entrants, the five-furlong event will gross 4,800, with the owner of the winner netting 1,075 of the 1,300 top money. Contrary to the general trend, which shows that out-of-town talent has dominated the previous runnings, this edition of the Polly Drummond is made up solely of home talent, including Mrs. E. Eugenia Bankheads Have and Hold, Harry W. Hay-ners Lovita H., Dorchester Farm Stables Stay Smoochie and Brookmeade Stables Meant Well, who gained the money positions in a race here last week, as weTf as Stanley Sagnefs Sew it Up, the beaten favorite in that dash. - Other scheduled starters are: Mrs. Walter A. Edgars Milady Dares, Jouett Shouses Ste. Joan, Carolyn K Stables Dance Card, Watson Elliotts Dorothys Best, A. L. Wolfe Jr.s Sweet Mollie and A. P. Bovellos Battle Hill. Have and Hold Timed in :595 Have and Hold and Milady Dares come from successful local efforts, the former winning under a drive in :59, while Milady Dares was a galloping three and one-half lengths winner in identical time. The manner in which the latter scored was especially impressive and could send her postward as favorite, although Have and Hold could attract considerable local support. Manuel N. "Mike" Gonzalez returns atop Have and Hold, while Oliver Cutshaw will again ride Milady Dares. As -mentioned earlier, Lovita H., Stay Smoochie, Meant Well and Sew i Up were beaten by Have arid Hold in their recent meeting. Lovita H. was with the winner for the entire distance, while Stay Smoochie andyMeant Well made up ground in the late stages. Sew it Up was meeting defeat for the first time in that race, which is reason enough for her having been sent postward as the choice over her rivals. Her two winning efforts were accomplished in Maryland. Since her last performance, the homebred Saggy filly worked a swift three furlongs in :34 as her final speed sharpener for the Polly Drummond. She will be ridden by Eldon Nelson, while Steve Brooks and Walter Blum will ride Lovita H. and-. Stay Smoochie, respectively. Meant Well is without a rider at this writing. Dance Card and Ste. Joan were second in their most recent attempts, the former finishing just a half length behind Wayward Bird in near track record time of :58 at Garden State Park and the Shouse miss being a length behind the well-bred Noordeen in 1:00and here. Howard Grant will ride-Dance Card, with Joe Culmone having been assigned the mount on Ste. Joan. Wednesdays program also includes the initial event of the Montchanin Handicap, a series of five weekly races which increase in value and distance through the runnings, with an additional cash award of ,500 going to the owners of the top four horses in the final point standings. Entered here are Hand Reward. Dance-a-Jig, Woody Glen, Colonel Jay, Weep and Wail, Side Light, Grand Graphen, Witches Magic, Lancaster Rose, Side Light, Hoiero and Prince du Houlme.
