MAU-MAU raced evenly for a half mile, was sent to the outside for the stretch run and, closing strongly under brisk urging, wore down the leaders in the last sixteenth. ADOLPHS JOY, a sharp factor from the outset, finished resolutely in a good performance but could not withstand the winner and just missed. JAY RAN, never far back, settled in the stretch with a short lead but faltered during the drive. BIG BAD W. lacked, early foot. NANETTE drifted out at the stretch turn. BELHAM began slowly. INVITE broke fast, set the pace until inside the stretch, then gave way. WRONG ONE raced wide. BLUE STORM could not keep up. GREAT GRANT, alertly handled, took command at once and, after entering the stretch with a good lead, increased that advantage to win as his rider pleased. SOME . TUNE saved ground throughout, was unable to threaten GREAT GRANT but held on gamely to withstand TRAINER BILL. The latter raced evenly to the stretch, finished willingly under urging but could not overtake SOME TUNE. GREEN BRIGADE was unable to threaten the leaders when set down in the drive. FINE DICK made a good bid" in the early stretch, then weakened. GRAND DAZE raced wide. STORY WANTED began slowly. GOLDEN HOST raced forwardly placed, to the stretch but had nothing left for the drive. RANCHER raced nearest GREAT GRANT for a half mile, then gave way. KEY LADY had early foot but failed to stay. SIR RULER, well-placed from the start, swerved slightly when nearing the finish but wore down REFUGEE in the last strides. The latter took command early, held on willingly when set down hard but could not withstand the winner. MISTY FLIGHT, never far back, bobbled slightly inside the furlong post, then came again but could not overtake the top pair. PONDICHERRY began fast, raced with REFUGEE to the last eighth mile, then weakened. BERNWITH raced greenly. PERSIAN PATRON had no mishap. BIG PRINCE bore out immediately after the break and could not reach serious contention. MARLOW ROAD and DARTMOOR raced far back, throughout. JOE R. gradually worked, his way forward to the stretch, was sent to the extreme outside for the drive and, responding to brisk handling, raced STEELMASTER into defeat and won going away. STEELMASTER took an early lead, settled into the stretch with a good lead and continued willingly in the middle of the track but was not good enough for the winner. RASCAL YOU, under light restraint to the last three-eighths mile, closed determinedly under urging but could not threaten the leaders. DANCE AWAY raced nearest STEELMASTER to the stretch but had nothing left for the drive. RIO VEGAS lacked early foot. RANDYS H. had no mishap. ANDYS OAK had early speed but failed to stay. BROUHAHA moved up fast between horses entering the stretch, was. taken out for the drive and, responding to strong handling, disposed of ALWAYS SUNNY and held HATS OFF safe, winning with little left HATSOFF, outrun to the stretch and blocked when nearing the three-sixteenths mile post, came fast when clear and was getting to the winner at the finish. ALWAYS SUNNY took an early lead, set the pace until well inside the stretch, then faltered when challenged by the winner. WIRES END lacked early foot and swerved under punishment after entering the stretch. POLARCY tired during the drive. GOLD FINERY had no mishap. LADY GRAY raced forwardly placed to the last eighth mile, then weakened. TRIGGER GtRL was never dangerous. QUEEN SALETO, rank during the post parade, unseated her rider and galloped off, broke well in the race but failed to stay after, showing brief speed. POP CORN began fast but was taken in hand and saved ground while racing "nearest WAR EAGLE to the stretch, took command when ready and drew clear, winning with something left. HARMONIZING gradually worked way forward after the initial quarter mile, was sent to the inside of CUT AND RUN and WAR EAGLE during the final furlong and closed willingly but could not seriously threaten POP CORN. CUT AND RUN, well placed to the stretch, was bothered repeatedly by WAR EAGLE during the last three-sixteenths mile and could not overtake HARMONIZING when finally clear. WAR EAGLE, a rough gelding to ride, saved ground while setting the pace to the last quarter mile, then swerved badly and could not be persevered with during the late stages. GAME CHANCE, never far back, settled for the drive with a short advantage, .was placed in tight quarters during the last sixteenth and was unable to hold the winner, just missing. RUN RIOT, well placed from the outset, was taken out for the stretch run and closed strongly but could not overtake the top pair. INDIAN SMOKE bore out entering the stretch and was unable to threaten the leaders when straightened for the drive. APOPHASIS raced well to the stretch and then weakened. HALF MINUTE had early foot.
