Daily Racing Form statistics -also reveal that attendance at the recent session, which began April 1 and terminated May 28, averaged 25,376, down only 290 per day over last year. The biggest day of the meeting was Saturday, April 20, when the turnstiles showed a count of 42,122 and the mutuel machines clicked to the tune of ,609,059. The previous week end, April 13, was the second best attendance with a gate count of 41,-584, while Saturday, April 27, saw the mutuel play hit ,591,630. In all, there were eight Saturdays on which the mutuel play passed the ,000,000 mark. A new Daily Double payoff record for Jamaica was set on April 17 when the combination of Prideful and O. K. Bud returned ,409.90. The previous high for Jamaica was ,461.10 provided by .Royal Viola and Boots on October 14, 1953 The record New York double is the ,313.90 returned by Buddie Bones and Junction City on August 27, 1945, during the Sara-toga-at-Belmont Park meeting. There were 32 tickets of the denomination and two of the 0 variety sold on the Prideful-O. K. Bud combination. Prideful returned 4.90 straight and O. K. Bud, 24.10. Sixteen Stakes Decided There were 16 stakes decided at the meeting and the filly Little Pache and the juvenile Poly Hi each won .a pair. Little Pache won the Correction and Bed o Roses, while Poly Hi scored in the Rose-dale and the Fashion. Little Pache is owned by the Ellis Farm of the Litwin Brothers, while Poly Hi carries the colors of Mrs. S. George Zauderer. In addition to Little Paches three triumphs she also won an overnight event, Ellis Farm had five other winners and wound up with total earnings of 0,885 for the meeting. As a result, Ellis topped Wheatley Stable for leading money winning honors, the Mrs. Henry Carnegie Phipps establishment having 0,510. A close third in this department was Mrs. Ethel D. Jacobs stable with 8,930. Kingmaker, who carries the colors of Cortwright Wetherhills Happy Hill Farm, was the leading money winner at the session with 3,675. The four-year-old altered son of Princequillo Raise You, by Case Ace, accounted for the Grey Lag and one overnight race. Little Pache ranked second with 2,900. Wheatleys Bold Ruler, victor over Ralph Lowes Gallant Man in a thrilling renewal of the Wood Memorial, earned 0,800 in the effort, sufficient to give him third place in the standings. The veteran Ted Atkinson paced the riders, booting home 45 winners. Robert j I Ussery placed with 41, followed by Eddie! Arcaro with 33. Atkinson had the lone riding feat of the meeting, scoring with four out of eight mounts on April 25. H. A. Jerkens topped the trainers list with 15 saddling successes. Frank E. Cun-dall and Hirsch Jacobs tied for second with 14 winners apiece.
