Eight Sprinters Entered In Ohio Turnpike Purse Hokey Pokey May Rule Favorite Over See My Way at Fort Miami By T. J. MULLIGAN FORT MIAMI, Maumee, Ohio, May 9. — Featuring Fridays nine-race program will be the Ohio Turnpike Purse, a six-furlong test for four-year-olds and upward. Eight of the swiftest sprinters in this area will compete. Among those named are J. Morgans Tiger Cat. Karrat Brothers Jimmys First, George Adams Winter Love, D. Prestons j Dark Challaenge, R. E. Koehls See My j Way, Edna Skibba s Hokey Pokey, Swift j Summer, who races in the partnership of Howell and Hardesty and Flashy Harp, | who is jointly owned by Mrs. C. Ring and Mrs. E. G. Hoffman, who also trains this thoroughbred. Clear, summeryweather is in prospect | for the program which gets under way at 3 ■ p.m. and a fast track will prevail. A pair j of middle distance events are scheduled with the balance of the card confined to the sprinting variety. Hokey Pokey, a bay daughter of Apache, appears to hold a slight edge. This steady ! going mare registered by five lengths in j her last at six furlongs and negotiated the ; distance in 1 : UkK* only one second off the track record held by Gallant Dolly and a repetition of that sparkling performance should find her right back in the winners circle. See My Way rates the runner-up position on the strength of his corking effort here on Monday. He finished second that afternoon to Rocos Fox while being closest to that one all the way only to falter in the concluding strides. Jimmys First turned in a commendable effort in his last only to be beaten a half length and a nose for the entire spoils. He held a comfortable lead in that event to the head of the stretch then flattened out j badly the final sixteenth. He was installed J as the favorite at even money and although beaten he was far from disgraced and may make amends here tomorrow afternoon. Swift Summer and Winter Love may go well while Dark Challenge and Flashy Harp have disappointed to date. Tiger Cat I will be making his initial appearance at the meeting and may need this race under his girth before being capable of entering the winners circle.
