ACHILLES, hard held while setting the pace, was not hurried when displaced along the backstretch and, after having regained command, held on gamely over MONTE. The latter, sluggish as usual early, circled the field while rallying and came back dead lame after just failing to score. FLAMING PRINCE hung in the late drive. BLUE JACK lacked a response in the final furlong. ANGRY THOUGHTS reached the leader through the stretch and weakened slightly. TARRY NOT stopped badly after a mile.
