* On the Wire I By Hugh J. McGuire I Former FBI Man Enjoys Race Track Duties Kline Weatherford on Job at Early Hour Keeps in Touch With Horsemen, Employees WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, 111., June 15.— Holding the post of executive director here and as assistant at the Arlington and Washington Park meetings is Kline Weatherford, and this personable young graduate from the Federal Bureau of Investigation makes no sinecure of the job. The many facets of his work find him on the track daily soon after 5 a.m., and he enjoys personal contact with horsemen and employees, during which he discusses mutual problems and suggestions. While Weatherford realizes that it is impossible to please everyone, constructive criticism and sugges tions are evaluated and an attempt is made to make improvements that would benefit the majority of those concerned. Weatherford maintains a constant check on the barn area, track kitchen and has spent nights with the guards to get the security policy in smooth working order. The patrol system is now arranged so that guards in cars check many appointed stations at eight-minute intervals. This year marks Weatherfords second season with the Lindheimer organization. He had spent more than 13 years with the FBI and was special agent in charge of the Chicago area when he resigned to take up his present post. The resignation was prompted by his wish to provide a permanent home for his family, which consists of his wife Blanche, sons Stephen, 11, and Tommy, 10, and daughter Susan 9. His job at "the Bureau" had entailed a great deal of travel and transfers, and his present residence is the eighth house he has found it necessary to buy. Weatherford admits that there are times when he misses the activity of "the Bureau" because of his part in an administrative capacity there, but now he is at least free from the xisk or threats, to his personal security.
