— - * Canadian Championship Increased to 0,000 TORONTO, Ontario, June 15.— The Canadian Championship has been increased in value for its 1955 renewal to a new high of 0,000 in purse value. Fred S. Orpen, president of the Long Branch Jockey Club announced this afternoon. The intention of the club | to add an additional 3,000 to the purse of 7,000 offered for the 1954 running which was won by the U. S. invader, Resilient, under conditions opening the stake to horses that were previously unplaced in a race in Canada. The 1955 renewal, set for the Long-Branch course, just outside Toronto, will be run on October 15th, and will be the 17th running of the mile and one-eighth fixture for three-year-olds and upward. Orpens said the Long Branch announcement that the added money of the Canadian championship will be increased to 0,000 makes it the richest race in Canada.
