Endorse Illinois-Bred Allowance Bill D. Elmo Jordan, of Chicago, as president of the Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders Association, presided over a meeting of that organization held in the Washington Park clubhouse Tuesday evening. About 100 were in attendance and a number of new members were admitted, bringing the total membership to 136. Charles E. "Chuck" Miller, of Chicago, was named vice-president for northern Illinois; Fred Pappito, vice-president for the central part of the state, and Edward Schrodt to a similar position for the southern Illinois district. Earl McMahon was appointed a director, as were Frank Nugent and L. E. Morris. The bill calling for a five-pound allowance for Illinois-bred horses was endorsed by a majority vote. One of those supporting-the bill is Paul Serdar, Illinois breeder and chairman of the Illinois Racing Board. Trainer E. S. Brumfield was to ship Due de Fer back to New Jersey following the colts engagement in Wednesdays Domino Handicap. Brumfield intimated that he might return during the Arlington Park meeting. . . W* E. Charles arrived in the interest of Randall Park-at Cleveland, where a meeting" gets under way July 16. The feature of the session will, as usual, be the Buckeye Handicap, which this year will be worth 0,000 addeti. This will mark the sixth running for the Buckeye, which for the first two years was won by a Chicago campaigner, Seaward, from Hasty House Farm. . . . Trainer Bennett Creech is sending his racing stock to ThistleDown. Six horses were to depart Thursday and the remainder Saturday. . . . Trainer Strother Griffin checked in at Arlington Park with five horses. They came from Keeneland. S. McLaughlin, a mare who raced on Chicago tracks a few seasons ago, recently dropped a filly foal by Prince of Royston at the Denemark farm and has been bred back to Red Curtice, who was a stake winner in the Denemark silks. S. McLaughlin is owned by John W. Snider. . . . I. W. Huggett, of Cleveland, who has-i some horses here in charge of trainer Dan Howell, is visiting. . . . Jockey Al Popara has been engaged to ride Styrunner in Saturdays Chicagoan. . . . Phil Johnson is making a good bid for the trainers honors here. Went into a tie with William Hal Bishop Monday, but Bishop added a pair of winners Tuesday while Johnson came up with one.
