Ann Collins to Do Portrait Of Gardenia Stakes Winner MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 15. — Ann Collins, Americas foremost lady painter of equines, today confirmed her commission from President Eugene Mori of Garden State Park to preserve in oils the winner of the 0,000 added Gardenia Stakes. The Gardenia, for two-year-old fillies, will have its inaugural running this fall as a companion feature to the worlds richest race, The Garden State, and may itself become the richest event for fillies. Miss Collins has held many important commissions from private individuals, race tracks and concerns, and she has painted nearly every outstanding thoroughbred of recent years, including Citation, Whirla-way, Tom Fool, Discovery, Fisherman, Phalanx, and many others. Her latest work is one of M. J. Kaplans Sunshine Nell. Last year Miss Collins was commissioned by John D. Schapiro to paint Robert Bouchers Wilwyn who won the Laurel International, and she thereby became the first American lady in history to visit England on an important painfjmg assignment. Miss Collins makes her home in nearby Colts Neck, N. J., and is a frequent visitor here and in New York during the racing season.
