New Jersey Joe Hirsch By — - Royal Note Stabled at Monmouth Park May Be Ready for Action Within Month To Stage United Hunts Day on July 27 MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 15.— Around the Track: Wilton Stables Royal Note, one of the-top two-year-olds of 1954 and ranked fifth in Jim my Kuroe s .Experimental Free Handicap, arrived from Delaware Park yesterday along with five others of Frank Gilpins string. The Spy Song colt, who was sidelined with a knee ailment, has been in training for the past 70 days and should be ready for the races within the next month. He breezed three panels in :36 this morning and is definitely on the way to stakes condition. Among the others that Gilpin brought in is Royal Monarch, a half-brother to Royal Note, by Easy Mon, from the Royal Minstrel mare Penroyal. This one hasnt started yet, but is considered among the most promising youngsters of the 1955 crop. Gilpin has nine more at Delaware that he will ship here at the conclusion of that meeting. Miss W. Helen Eden, secretary of Belmonts Turf and Field Club and assistant secretary of the United Hunts Racing Association, arrived at Monmouth Park today to confer with Amory Haskell, president of both organizations, and Monmouths director of steeplechas-ing, -Chris Wood, Jr., regarding United Hunts Day at this track on July 27. Members of the steeplechase group will be guests of the association. . . . Merritt Buxton notes that X-rays taken after Smooth Strides race last Saturday showed the Trio Stable colt to have a small osselet, which is likely to mean by-passing his next engagement in Aqueducts Tremont Stakes on June 22. Smooth Stride, who won the Youthful at Jamaica, was purchased for 4,500 at the Dickey dispersal sale this winter.
