France Invites Leading U.S. Horses to Arc de Triomphe NEW YORK, N. Y., June 15. — DAILY RACING FORM has received a request from the Societe DEncouragement, the official ruling1 body of French racing:, to extend an invitation to owners of the leading horses in the United States to enter their stars in the rich Arc de Triomphe, to be run at Longchamp, Paris, on Sunday, October 9. Entries for the race close on June 28. The request specifies that the following American-bred horses be invited: High Gun, Helioscope, Determine, Social Outcast, Swaps and Nashua. The Societe DEncouragement will also give consideration to a fixed allowance covering major portions of transportation expenses. The Arc de Triomphe is one and one-half miles on grass, weight-for-age for three-year-olds and upward. The value to the winner is 0,000. The Societe DEncouragement feels that the willingness with which French owners and breeders have supported the International Steeplechase at Belmont and the Washington, D. C. International at Laurel should be reciprocated with representation from the United States in this famous French classic.
