POMPOSITY, rated outside the first flight into the final turn, challenged willingly when called upon and bested the opposition under punishment. SNARE raced into contention between horses at the far turn, lacked clear racing room on the stretch turn, but finished gamely. LONELY MAID quickly opened a clear lead after the start and weakened only slightly in the stretch drive. BOLD IMP saved ground to loom boldly on the stretch turn and hung. EAGLE EYE was lightly urged disposing of BEDOUIN on the turn and remained under steady handling to retain a safe davantage. BEDOUIN began fastest and raced with the winner for three furlongs, could not stay with the latter in the drive, but narrowly lasted to best DING DING. The latter, steadied within striking distance, rallied only mildly when set down for the last quarter mile. RIVER FLOWS had difficulty finding room betv/een horses in the upper stretch, but finished well. YOUR HEALTH lacked a final rally. REJANE made a mild bid on the final turn and suddenly weakened. MIGHTY BAKER was whipped away from the gate to be within striking distance of ILITE, disposed of that rival while racing slightly wide into the stretch and won in handy style. BLACK FROST was hustled along as a forward factor and finished gamely. DROMOND was strongly ridden and steadily made up ground in a good effort. ILITE immediately opened a clear lead, but faltered when challenged on the turn. AMWELL raced slightly wide. ROMAN FAN was pinched back at the start. KATUSA bore out on the stretch turn. WINSHIP began fastest, shook free of DELIBERTUITY and opened a long lead without need of urging at the far turn and lasted while tiring in the final stages. DELIBERTUITY was eased back from the winner at the far turn and steadied to the final turn, then closed fast near the end. An objection lodged by the rider on DELIBERTUITY against WINSHIP, claiming interference at the three-furlong pole, was not allowed ROCKY HEIGHTS "was sluggish and outrun to the stretch, then came between horses and finished with a rush. MR. MIGHTY, probably best, was closing fast when sharply blocked entering the last sixteenth. LIBERTY LUCK closed with late courage. WAR POINTER drifted out and weakened on the turn. He was lightly hand urged after a quick beginning to gain an advantage over the tv/o rivals racing outside of him, v/as shaded with the whip from the left hand just past the three-furlong pole, lightly struck once passing the five-sixteenths and again shaded entering the stretch, then was being taken in hand the final sixteenth. BUSHERS BEAM, hustled outside the top pair, was carried very wide on the final turn by ASHENDEN and finished well getting clear of that one in the stretch. ARTISMO lacked speed into the stretch and showed good speed only in the last sixteenth. ASHENDEN closely challenged the winner for three furlongs, then bore out badly and weakened. STAR ROVER showed first out of the gate and remained close to COMMONWEALTH when the latter took the lead, was left with a comfortable margin when COMMONWEALTH faltered on the stretch turn and was ridden but to retain his advantage. IMPROMPTU was bumped hard by EARLY WARNING leaving the gate, quickly recovered under brisk handling to be closest to the top pair, then began going out slightly on the final turn and gradually drifted wide through the stretch although finishing gamely. An objection lodged by Hartack against STAR ROVER, claiming the latter crossed in front of him at the four and one-half furlong marker, was not allowed. OLYMPIA WIZ was steadily urged from a slow start, worked between horses and finished fast while being guided wide outside IMPROMPTU. HARTSVILLE was favorably placed next to the rail behind the leaders, but lacked an effective rally. OUR PRINCE raced very wide on the turn and finished well after his loss of ground. AMBERGRIS closed with good late speed. EARLY WARNING swerved into IMPROMPTU and was taken back at the start, showed good speed to the stretch, but was tiring. COMMONWEALTH easily showed speed for almost a half mile and flattened out. TAX CUT tried to bolt at the far turn. Scratched— 518434 Tiberian, 118; 518433 Blue Vet, 113. PADDYS DAY was intermittently urged racing outside the tcp pair, wrested command in the upper stretch, but was no match for the winner. INDIRECT was outrun for six furlongs, came around horses and finished well. GOTTAPASSEM was rated along setting the early pace and weakened when put to pressure.
