Shoemaker Passes Hollywood Stakes to Catch Flight East HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., May 14. Jockey Bill Shoemaker, who had calls on several horses Friday, decided to take off his later mounts when complications developed in getting air transporta,-tion to Baltimore where he rides Sword Dancer in the Preakness Saturday. Previously announced as the rider on Tight Nit in Fridays Junior League Stakes, Shoemaker will be substituted by Dick Griffiths, who had been aboard for both of her previous wins. It is not known is "Shoe" will be on hand for the early races. The other Hollywood Park jockey to ride in the Preakness, Bill Harmatz, will leave at. J. P. M. He may ride at Pimlico Friday.
