Won handily. 0WENDELLE, outrun to the stretch, was taken out at the final turn and, closing fast under mild urging, disposed of GULIZAR and won going away. GULIZAR, settled into the stretch with a good lead, but could not withstand the winner. ROYAL EIGHTEEN lacked early speed, but finished strongly under brisk urging. BLANK DAY made a mild bid in the early stretch and then faltered. CHALME, outrun early, could not reach serious contention. GREAT PLANET failed to stay. PEPPER drifted to the inside during the drive, but disposed of the leaders and won going away. BIREME gave a sharp effort, but was not good enough for the winner. SUCCESSFUL made the pace until inside the final furlong and then faltered. LOISEL finished willingly but could not reach the top ones. RETRIBUTION had no mishap. SUNSET BABY bore-to the inside entering the stretch and, after crowding LORD MIKE and ADMIRALS WATCH, could not reach serious contention. LORD MIKE was beaten when roughed by SUNSET BABY. ADMIRALS WATQH was far back when bothered during the jam caused by SUNSET BABY. NOBLE FOOT and MAIDEN AUNTIE gave way after showing early speed. LITTLE YOU raced ATHENIAN II. into defeat and settled into the stretch with a good lead but was unable to withstand the top one. MORICHES raced evenly without mishap. BRIEF ENCOUNTER made a good bid in the early stretch but faltered near the finish. BIRDCAGE WALK was never dangerous. BASIL BEE fenced well from the outset, took command from CHAMBOURG approaching the final brush and, after clearing the latter, won without need of urging. INDEPENDENCE went steadily under restraint to the eleventh hedge, responded willingly when set down during the flat run to the finish but was unable to threaten the winner while out-gaming CHAMBOURG for the place. The latter went to the front at once, jumped and- raced well until reaching the ninth fence, bobbled and, after, his rider recovered his near stirrup iron, faltered when challenged by BASIL BEE. ARYWA jumped well but was unable to threaten the leaders. DARUBINI was far back when he made a bad landing at the tenth hedge and failed to recover.
