Cancel High Guns Plans For Shipping to England King Ranch Star Will Start in Aqueducts Carter and Brooklyn AQUEDUCT, L. I., .N. Y., June 13.— Trainer Max Hirsch announced today that it had been decided to abandon plans to ship High Gun to England for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on July 16. Robert J. Kleberg, owner of King Ranch, after discussing the matter at some length with IJirsch by telephone, left the final decision with the trainer, who decided at once against the trip. Hirsch advanced several reasons for canceling the planned invasion of England, all motivated by consideration for the horse himself. He felt that there would not be enough time for High Gun to become familiar with strange surroundings and the change to grass course racing; he would have to be entrusted to a jockey not acquainted with his mannerisms and would not have the services of a stable pony going postward, and might be quite a problem to handle breaking from the English-type starting tapes, after being accustomed to the restraining influence of the American starting gates. Discussing new plans for High Gun, Hirsch stated that last seasons champion three-year-old would now set his sights on the 0,000 Carter Handicap,- at seven furlongs, on July 4 and the Brooklyn, of the same value, on July 9 at Aqueduct.
