Knight. IN GATE— 1:15. OFF AT 1:15 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME. Start good. Won driving; second and third the same. HELLO RITA, slow to gain best stride, forged -between horses to attain closer contention nearing the furlong marker, came over sharply on PHILS FILLY while taking command inside the stretch, then increased her advantage when straightened. HELLO RITA was disqualified for fouling and placed last. COSMIC LASS, away fastest, raced forwardly placed to the stretch while saving ground, but was unable to withstand the winner when hard ridden through the late stages. AFRICA steadily improved her position to assume a brief lead at the furlong marker,. but faltered when placed to stern pressure thereafter. BOLD PLAYER came to the complete outside for the stretch run, but was not good enough. PHILS FILLY drifted wide around the turn and during the early stretch run, was forced to take up sharply when impeded by the winner inside the furlong marker and lost all chance. PAVLOWA was carried wide on the turns by PHILS FILLY and was unable to recover. VALENCIA dropped from contention soon after the start. SANDRA S. S. never was dangerous. UP BETIMES, never far back, forged to the front nearing the furlong marker, relinquished command momentarily midway in the drive, but came again in the final stride to gain the nod. RUSSET ORANGE gave way to the winner entering the stretch, regained the lead between calls during the final furlong, then held on determinedly, just missing. SIMPLE, shuffled back slightly on the far turn, recovered gamely, but rallied too belatedly to seriously endanger the top ones. BARITONE BOB passed tiring horses. PINUHTA was unable to attain the lead and tired. MISS STIFLE began sluggishly. ROYAL PATE failed to stay. MISSTATE was outrun. TALKING MAMIE retired steadily after flashing brief speed. MARTINGLE, unhurried when outrun early, responded readily when shaken leaving the final turn and, after assuming a slight iead after completing the final hurdle, held on determinedly to outgame DANNY BOY II. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of DANNY BOY II. for alleged interference on the final turn was not allowed. DANNY BOY II., always within striking distance, moved up boldly on the inside to attain the runner-up position entering the stretch, but was unable to overtake the leader when subjected to stern punishment. SPIT N POLISH, forwardly placed to the stretch, failed to sufficiently respond when called upon for his best effort. BASILIA tired. BREAKERS AHEAD was always outrun. RING 0 ROSES gave way suddenly approaching the final obstacle. DULAT was unable to keep up. KING GAVIN bobbled and lost his rider at the eighth jump. SPICEY STORY, always within striking distance of the leaders, came fast when guided to the middle of the track for the stretch run and after replacing PALACE DANCER, won going away. The latter raced MINUTE HAND into defeat to assume a clear lead at the furlong marker, was unable to withstand the challenge of the winner, but held on willingly to easily prevail over the others. MINE STONE, forced to take up slightly leaving the gate, recovered readily to retain a forward position to the stretch but failed to respond when the real test came. PRO BONO lacked the necessary rally. MINUTE HAND, much used early, had little left. LADY OFORTUNE saved ground to no avail. COALSPUR raced wide. BLUE RELIC rank at the post, never menaced. BUNNYS BABE, away alertly, was reserved back of the early leaders, bore in slightly while going to the front inside the stretch, but responded readily when straightened and gamely held BLUE QUEST safe. The latter, forced to take up sharply when in close guarters immediately after the start, recovered readily and, after being guided to the outside for the stretch run, closed with good energy. DARK RULER was compelled to be steadied when lacking racing room along the rail leaving the final turn, then was unable to overtake, the leaders when clear. GOLD BOX, fractious at the post, had no apparent mishap during the running. TOCSIN recovered gamely after stumbling slightly at the break, forged to the front at the furlong marker, then tired. FABULIST, forwardly placed from the beginning, responded readily to assume a slight lead when guided to the outside nearing the furlong marker and steadily increased his advantage thereafter when subjected to intermittent urging. RED HANNIGAN saved ground next to the inner rail while holding sway to the final turn, gave way to the winner entering ihe stretch and, though unable to seriously endanger the latter during the late stages, held on willingly to outlast FIRST AID. The latter engaged RED HANNIGAN to the stretch, then failed to respond properly when set down for the ultimate test. PAPER TIGER, far back early, made up some ground when hard ridden through the final furlong. JOE JONES moved up menacingly leaving the near turn, then tired. RESILIENT, forced to take up slightly when in close guarters immediately after the start, never threatened thereafter. LYCHNUS was through early. FULL FLIGHT and MEL LEAVITT were outrun. SEARCHING outsprinted her rivals into the first turn to assume a clear early lead, held sway to the stretch under clever rating, came out sharply impeding RICHES inside the furlong marker, then continued on gamely when straightened to outlast the latter. SEARCHING was disgualified for fouling and placed last. RICHES moved up boldly on the outside to reach near even terms for the lead at the furlong marker, was forced to take up sharply when impeded by the winner immediately thereafter and was unable to regain best stride. MR. PHAL failed to make up appreciable ground when hard ridden through the late stages. MAINLANDER saved ground to no avail. BELLAMY was unable lokeep up. BLACK-ABOUT failed to stay while racing on the outside of the early leaders. NABESNA trailed throughout. Overweight— Mainlander, 1 pound; Bellamy, 4; Blackabout, 5; Nabesna, 1. STRUTTING HIGH, allowed to settle into best stride, came between horses to gain closer contention leaving the final turn, secured ample racing room next to the rail inside the stretch and was along in the concluding stride to outgame BROGUE II. The latter raced MUEZZIN into defeat to hold sway at the furlong marker, then held on determinedly thereafter in a sharp effort. MUEZZIN, much used engaging for the early advantage, had little left when the real test came. DOVER DOLL moved up boldly entering the stretch, but faltered when punished. SWEET WENDY G. had no mishap. SEMOLINA never was dangerous. LOOK ALIVE, forced to take up sharply when in close guarters along the rail entering the stretch, but was unable to recover.
