An even dozen from the age division were nominated for the Livonia renewal and two of the more prominent eligibles, E. Gay Drakes homebred Dogoon and G. R. Whites Trim Destiny, will pass the local stake in favor of the 0,000 Chicagoan, set for decision at one mile next week end at the Balmoral meeting, Washington Park. Trim Destiny, second to Swaps in the Jefferson Purse at Churchill Downs but beaten off in the Derby, recently coasted to an easy victory here in the Soo Purse, defeating Jeffrey J. S., Deedee O., Gay Warbler, Our Hines and Black Gallant in that overnight sprint. Present choice for the Livonia is T. Alice Grissoms Tonsina, a daughter of Buster and Spindrift, good winner of the 0,000 Rose Leaves Stakes here last week end. The Motor City-owned miss, who posted a "four-four-three" record during her juvenile campaign, beat several older fillies and mares in this years edition of the Rose Leaves, stepping through the muddy footing in 1:13%. In the field following her to the wire were such good ones as Affeld and Landys Betsy T, Mrs. George Whites Trip Lightly, and Tamarack Stables . 1954 Rose Leaves star, Sharbot. While Tonsina certainly rates highly in the Livonia, she undoubtedly will meet some sturdy competition from J. H. Homans homebred Jeffrey J. S., second to Trim Destiny in the Sbo; and C. and P. Farms Michigan -bred Deedee O., third in the same dash. Affeld returned s to Chicago after watching his filly, Betsy T, turn in a good third in the Rose Leaves Stakes. . . . . Apprentice Larry Gilligan, now with trainer Vester Wright, can do 97 pounds with tack. Wright put him on several horses Monday.
