Urge Consultation With Turf Officials For years press boxes at race tracks were constructed without any thought being given to consultation with the men who worked in them, and some of the results were little short of being horrible. To this day it is an oddity that racing rules and regulations are enacted without consultation with organized offi- cials whose duty it is to enforce these rules. Many new regulations were found after passage to be inoperable, and members of SNARO point out that discussion with them of such measures prior to passage w.ould have prevented such instances. For this reasbn, one of the aims of the group is to have united representation before the lawmakers in the general interest of the sport. Other aims are to maintain competency and co-operation, a rapid exchange pf information, a record of availability for* official positions and mutual assistance. The by-laws contain nothing that would characterize the group as a guild or union; in fact, the members themselves have stipulated that no such activity be permitted. To our humble way of thinking, the strength, of SNARO lies in that it is operated from within by members themselves, and it will survive or fall by the integrity of its membership.
