Delaware By Charles Hatton -Saratoga Impressive in Richards Success Clubs Decision on Wagering Is Exemplary High Voltage Due In for Saturdays Oaks DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Pel., June 13.— While Nashua was sauntering once around the Belmont course "in isolated excellence" last week end, Dela- warians saw a thumping good horse race in the Leonard Richards. Mrs. Marion duPont Scotts home-grown Saratoga, possibly the last top - class son of the retired Blenheim H„ found himself in a virtual match race with Alibhai Lashes from the outset. Their nip-and-tuck duel in this nine furlongs of sloppy going carried them lengths before7 Thinking Cap and the others, and it was touch and go from the beginning who would prevail. In the final furlong, with five pounds disadvantage in the weights, the handsome black Virginian drew upon the last vestige of his resources and, stepping up the pace under Nick Shuks drive of hand and heel, beat his California rival by half his length. The time of .1:51% was a fairish showing under the circumstances. Saratoga was never actually off the lead, but Alibhai Lashes was prompting him closely all the way and went down honorably in a gruelling stretch drive. None of the other three in a light field of five ever looked like being a contender, with Thinking Cap emergent as the third to finish at a most respectful distance of nearly five leneths.
