Bucs Assign Smith to Lincoln PITTSBURGH, Pa., June 13 UP .—The Pittsburgh Pirates assigned outfielder Earl Smith outright today to the clubs Lincoln, Neb., farm club in the Class A Western League. Smith had been optioned to New Orleans of the Southern Association, but was returned after batting only .205 in 14 games.
