When W. Arnld Hangers Rico Reto won so impressively here on Saturday, there arose a possibility that trainer Max Hirsch will have a trio of starters in Saturdays Oaks. Rico Reto was a five-length winner over Louis Lee Haggin, TJ.s Smart Devil and Hen Party while turning a mile and a sixteenth in 1:47 Ms over a sloppy strip. Hirschs other hopefuls are Rico Romance, also owned by Hanger, and Mrs. Edward Laskers Loquacious. Both Rico Romance and Loquacious were returned winners in their most recent local endeavors. The same can be said of Walter M. Jeffords Hibernia, fourth in the overnight event on the past week end. Beyond the first four finishers in that race, it is hard to imagine that any of the others will be starters in the Oaks. Another leading prospect for the Oaks is Cain Hoy Stables Lalun, who gained stature through her impressive triumph in the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs. Operating over a slow track this morning, the bay daughter of Djeddah — Be Faithful trained impressively, covering a mile in 1:45%, the first six furlongs in 1:17%. The aforementioned Rico Romance also trained well over the week end, being caught eight furlongs in 1:45% Sunday morning while the track was in a sloppy condition. Mrs. Ada L. Rices Nimble Doll, who is no more than a possibility for-the Oaks, in that practically the entire stable is being shipped to Chicago, was timed five furlongs this morning in 1:04%, breezing.
