S. mail. Seems that neither snow nor rain nor sleet can prevent them from making their appointed rounds. We have not had the snow or sleet hereabouts during the past week, but we have" had rain aplenty. Still and all, the patrons have been turning out as usual and the attendance and pari-mutuel handle have been holding up remarkably well. Any wagering man might have bet his last sou that ,500,000 would not pass through the ticket sellers hand Saturday, but pass through it did, and the daily average pari-mutuel handle going into the final week of the Balmoral session stood at 25,965, which is 38 per cent above that of the last Lincoln Fields meeting. The daily average attendance here is 12,155. ... As we swing into the last six days of the session, Steve Brooks is leading Johnny Adams in the jockey race by two winning mounts, 26 to 24. That tops each of the boys final totals at Lincoln Fields last year, when Adams showed the way with 22 winners, and Brooks finished in a three-way tie for second place with 19. William Hal Bishop is one up on William Schmidt in the trainers* tally, the score being nine to eight. History is repeating itself again in this department, as at the last Lincoln Fields session Bishop showed the way with 13 winners and Schmidt was in a tie for second with seven. *
