FIRST alertly settled into closest pursuit of SENGA, gradually wore down that rival in the backstretch and opened a long lead on the turn, then was punished in the early stretch, but won as if much the best. SENGA outbroke the field, offered no resistance to the winner, but held on well enough to last over the others. NIGHT BAKER, unhurried for a half-mile, closed well thereafter and outfinished BOY DAMOUR. The latter was urged forwardly at the far turn, raced slightly wide and did not threaten the leaders. DEAR BRUTUS swerved while tiring in the stretch. SKEETER II. was outrun. SETUBAL refused to extended himself. Overweight— Night Baker, 2 pounds; Opera Light, 1. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. EDS DANDY was a prominent factor, wrested command from the outside on the final turn and drew clear for the finish. BIG BILLIE began sluggishly, saved all possible ground rallying from the final turn and finished well. MAILEI, hustled to the front at the start, was rated along to the final quarter mile and weakened slightly. MRS. CAESAR was well placed on the inside, but lacked a rally. SKY BIM lost ground racing outside horses and weakened. MISS GUSHER bore out entering the stretch and tired. SEA SIREN made a brief run outside horses on the turn.
