Largest Girls Intercollegiate Field Tees Off at Shoreacres By the United Press The largest field in the 11-year history of National Womens Intercollegiate Golf Tournament tees off today in an 18-hole qualifying test at Shoreacres Country Club in suburban Lake Bluff. Forty-e,ight girls comprise the field, which will begin match play tomorrow and continue through Saturday. Pat Lesser, slender brunette from the University of Washington, was favored to recapture the title she won in 1953, but lost last year to Nancy Reed of Peabody College. Miss Reed is not on hand this year to defend her crown. Miss Lesser, a member of the U. S. Curtis Cup team, is expected to get her stiffest opposition from Mar-lene Gesell, Winona, Minn., who was medalist last year. The tourney is being sponsored jointly by Shoreacres and the host Lake Forest College.
