Many Making Derby DebutThisYear Others Have Gone 4 Through It Before But to One and All-Owners, Trainers, Jockeys-Its An Experience Never Forgotten MR. and MRS. GORDON GUIBERSON, owners of Correspondent, are comparative newcomers to racing, but Correspondent is their second Derby starter. Their first was another California-bred, Arroz, who finished sixth to Hill Gail last year. The Gui-bersons make their home in La Jolla, California, having moved there last year after selling their showplace farm near Sacramento, a farm which was part of the original 40,000-acre thoroughbred nursery of one of the worlds greatest breeders, James Ben Ali Haggin. While a Calif ornian, Gui-berson has extensive business interests in Dallas. The Guibersons sold all their broodmares last summer, deciding to concentrate on racing only, and have been steady purchasers of yearlings. Having made a lifetime study of breeding and farming, Guiberson became interested in racing as a fascinating pastime. He had been an admirer of Correspondents sire, Khaled, from the time that horse was imported to California. He was among the first to book a mare to Khaled. Guiberson obtained Correspondent as a yearling from Rex Ellsworth. Sketches of Most 4J Prominent People Varied Interests, Careers Mold Into Only One Thought j Today — Win Run for Roses •
