Dixiana Farm in Tenth Try For Roses; Runner-Up Thrice DIXIANA FARM is the nom de course of CHARLES T. FISHER of Detroit, who is represented in the Derby by Berseem, a son of Bernborough from a Sweep All mare, and Spy Defense, a son of Bull Lea from the great race mare Mata Hari, who was I fourth in the 1934 Kentucky Derby. An active component of Dixiana Farm is Mary Fisher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. I Fisher, and who not only takes great pride and pleasure in the racing of Dixiana but also is active at the farm. Miss Fisher names all Dixiana horses. Dixiana Farm is one of the real showplaces of the blue grass country. It was originally founded by Major Barak G. Thomas, who named it for his mare Dixie. Dixiana was the home of Himyar, one of the greatest of American sires, and it was the birthplace of Domino, one of the greatest of all American thoroughbreds, whose name appears in the pedigree of many Kentucky Derby winners. Prior to racing as Dixiana, Fisher raced as the Bloomfield Stable. This will mark the Fishers tenth try in the Derby. The stable colors have finished second on three occasions, with Sweep All in 1931, Spy Song in 1946 and Sub Fleet runner-up last year to Hill Gail. In 1943, Amber Light, as did Mata Hari, finished fourth. t
