Mack Garner Finally Rewarded CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 1. — Mack Garners first mount was at Butte, Mont., July 16 1914, and for 20 years he fostered the hope of winning the~~! Kentucky Derby. He had Derby assignments almost yearly, but his mounts were not good enough. This list included the late Col E. R. Bradleys great Blue Larkspur, too, in 1929. But the glory Garner long had sought came in 1934 when he displayed perfect horsemanship, coming from far back to pilot Cavalcade to triumph.
