Troutt, Product of Of School, Waited Long Time for Starter CLYDE TROUTT, although one of Americas better known trainers over a period of many years, never has had the thrill of starting a Derby horse before, but Royal Bay Gem is one of the ranking contenders. Troutt is a product of the "old school" and gained his knowledge of horses racing in the bushes of Illinois for many years. While never really a rider, he did on occa- ♦ — sion pilot a horse in a race on occasions. One of the best horses he trained, before joining forces with Eugene Constantin, Jr., was the capable, hard hitting and consistent Take Wing. Troutt was recommended as a trainer to Constantin by the late Warren Wright and Ben Jones.
