Popara, Riding at Peak Form, Another Making Derby Debut ALFRED POPARA, who will have the mount on Money Broker, is to ride in the big race for the first time. Popara, born at Hayward, Calif., in 1928, handled the G and G Stable colt successfully in the Florida Derby and several other of the Detroit-owned stars winning engagements. Highly-regarded by trainer Vester Wright, Popara rode exceptionally well during the winter season at New Orleans and also during the Kentucky spring season. Popara said today ► that he thought Money Broker would go well in the Derby and that an "off" track would benefit his mount.
