Derby Riders Become Trainers CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 1. — Victorious Derby jockeys, who later became prominent trainers, include Vincent Powers, Willie Knapp, Joe Notter, Johnny Loftus, Rosce Goose and Earl Sande. Powers rode Wintergreen in 1908, Goose was on Worth in 1912, Notter guided Regret, 1915; Loftus steered George Smith, 1916, while Sande has a triple to his credit | — Zev, 1923; Flying Ebony, 1925, and Gallant Fox in 1930.
