, Moreno, Talented Stakes Rider, Invading Big Time This Year HENRY MORENO Dark Star, a top stakes rider on the West Coast, is invading 1 the "big time" of the East this spring as contract rider for Cain Hoy Stable and r trainer Eddie Hayward. Moreno, who rode first string for Calumet Farm at Hollywood Park last summer, has won many of the important stakes races on the Coast, including the 00,000 Hollywood Gold , Cup with Jennie Lee. A native of Chicago, Moreno drifted to the race course through chance, rode his first race at Pleasanton • in California Alameda County Fair and has been among the western leaders ever since. An oddity in the Moreno career is that, after he had made good, he induced his older brother, Pete, to ride too, and the latter held the apprentice allowance while Henry was an experienced hand.
