Hayward Conditions Dark Star; Formerly Rode Peace Pennant EDDIE HAYWARD, trainer for Cain Hoy Stable Dark Star is making his first bid for Derby honors this year. Hayward has been on the turf most of his life, having ridden in 1919, and continuing in the saddle for about seven years. One of the best horses he ever rode was Peace Pennant. He started on a career as a conditioner in the late twenties, and his first patron was James Norris, who raced under the nom de course of Peconic Stable. Later, he trained for Mrs. John Payson Adams, but came east about two years ago, and several months ago took over the powerful Cain Hoy string.
