CIRCUS CLOWN, in a contending position while racing on the outside, roused in pursuit of PLAY TOY on the final turn and disposed of that one to be safely best. PLAY TOY easily maintained a long lead into the stretch, then tired and gave way under punishment. ROPE TRICK was steered to the inside after entering the stretch and finished strongly. MONMOUTH was slow to rally for the drive, but closed fast at the end. PREFECT raced within striking distance and finished well. KAYS CHILDREN, sluggish and far back, picked up speed after a half-mile and was closing fast when he drifted in behind the leaders and was blocked the final sixteenth FLYING WEATHER set an even pace, then suddenly faltered ►n the last stages ROYAL FREEDOM went ir the »«r at the break.
