Eight in Featured Pace At Maywood Park Tonight MAYWOOD PARK, Maywood, 111., May 1. — Torrential rains caused the cancellation of Thursday nights card here. It was the first rain-out of the Maywood Park Trotting Associations regular meeting and the second of the 1953 Chicagoland harness racing season, as heavy rains prevented the scheduled curtain lifter on April 15. The featured event on tomorrow nights card will be the Joliet Pace, a 16-class, conditioned stake with a total purse of ,575. Eight entries were received for this interesting race and the Melrose Park-owned True Jay, with part-owner Dave Taddeo, will probably rule as the public choice. Strongest opponents are likely to be Daisy Mel Win with Dee Stover at the reins, and the veteran campaigner, Moore Volo, with Ohioan L. N. Meggitt at the helm.
