Famous Ten Broeck, Parole Unplaced in Their Derbies CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky.. May 1 — One of Kentuckys most famous horses, the immortal Ten Broeck, was unplaced in the first running of the Kentucky Derby 1875, won by Aristides. In 1876-77 Ten Broeck furnished the racing world with the then almost incredible records of a mile in 1:39%, two miles in 1:37%, three miles in 5:26% and four miles in 7:15%. Another celebrated thoroughbred of the early days to meet defeat in the Derby was the marvelous Parole, who finished unplaced in the second running, won by Vagrant.
