►- r j Horses Serve Apprenticeship CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 1. — For a couple of years it appeared that horses would have to serve an "apprenticeship" in order to win the Louisville ► 4 Handicap, one of the eight stakes events raced each spring at Churchill Downs here. C. V. Whitneys Mount Marcy, winner of the event in 1950, had finished second to Inseparable in the 1949 running. Brownian ► deadheated with Mount Marcy for second money, Mount Marcy beat Our Request by a length and one-half in the 1950 race. In 1951, it was Our Request which took first place in the event.
