Jimmy Jones Boasts Perfect Record in Saddling Victors CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville. Ky., May 1. — H. A. "Jimmy" Jones not only has a perfect record as a trainer in the Kentucky Derby, but also has the distinction of being: one of three men who have trained two straight winners of the event. Iron Liege, winner of the 1957 renewal, was the first horse the Calumet Farm trainer ever saddled for the Derby. Again in 1958 he sent out the winner in Tim Tarn. Prior to 1957, all Calumet Farm starters in the Churchill Downs race had been saddled by the present trainers father, Ben A. Jones, who is one of the other two men to win the Derby twice in a row. The elder Jones won the 1948 renewal with Citation and saddled Ponder for his 1949 triumph. With six winners to his credit "Plain Ben" has saddled more Derby winners than any other man.
