Bays Are in Majority CHURCHTLL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 1. — The "bays" have it to the tune of 39 winners of that color in the Kentucky Derby. Second high on the list are the chestnuts, with 28 turning the trick. Browns have won the classic 12 times, the blacks and grays once. Tim Tarn, the 1958 winner, was a dark bay. Determine, victorious in 1954 is the only gray to score, while Black Gold, the 1924 winner, was the lone one of that color to triumph.
