Middleground in Texas CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 1. — Middleground, Derby winner in 1950, was retired from racing after his three-year-old campaign. He made one season at King Ranchs Kentucky farm, has been at King Ranch in Texas during all the other years. One of the best horses sired by Middleground was Here And There, I 1 winner of the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga in 1957.
