Winter Book Favorites Score CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 1. — So far as can be determined there were no "winter odds" offared on the 1951 or 1952 renewals of the Kentucky Derby. j Of the last thirty-eight renewals of the ] race, six were won by horses that opened , as favorites in the "winter line." Seven , others finished second. An odd thing is that I no "winter" favorite ever finished third in I the race. Nine of those made favorite did not get to start in the Derby.
